Listening to WILLIE THE PIMP by FRANK ZAPPA.. nice 10 mins of funky soul jazz music with crazy guitar.... should be the soundtrack to some movie man!!!!!!!!!!! incredible , ull only know what im talkin about if u listen to it.. and a one time listen is more than enuf! similar songs : cantaloop , chilli hot(the get shorty soundtrack)- US3. Jus went and got the kaup (a beach next to manipal) photos scanned. Here they are :

This is not kaup... its my room.. hint: the side WITHOUT the flower vase is mine!! (ironically also the one w/o the COMP!, but thats not too much of a problem.)

Pic at Kaup in the evening......... Me , my cousin meera, dalphee and sugandhi. Kaup's a beautiful beach about 50 k from manipal. U must see it if u come anywhere here. it's easily the best beach.

CHILLIN WITH THE LOCALS

STATUATORY WARNING : The following story is very long, if u have an hour, read it ....that's how long it took me to type it.

Good story with this... We were all happily jumping around and drowning each other in the waves when some guy started jumping around wherever went. I noticed this and tried putting myself in front of him but he would never put his head above the water, he'd just swim off and stalk us and jump out of the water like he was some crazy dolphin or something!....... anyway, i dint mind this as long as he dint try anything funny.

After a while we get tired, and we walk back to the beach and decide to bury dalphee in the sand. Me and my other friend vikas start doin this when out of nowhere , 20 odd locals jump out of nowhere and start helping us out! So there we are, both of us and 20 locals of odd sizes, shapes and attire digging dalphee into the ground.

Through all this, the guy on the left of me in the pic(that's right the smiling guy) repeatedly keeps asking me "BEER PEETHA HAI?" quite obviously "Do u drink beer?" so I go "Haan peetha hoon par nahi chahiye, yeh log peethe nahi hai" I ignore him and start helping with the task of digging dalphee who hasnt shown any signs of protest, but shows some concern when the locals, who obviously haven't seen a mermaid in their life, start digging a rift in the tail and bring odd objects (like the round blue one in the picture) between his legs!

Well we complete the mermaid plant a cig in d's hand and take the photo. Then the jumping guy comes out of the water like some hero and shouts "HEY MIT!" (that's my college's name). I guess he's talkin about me so I turn around and he comes waddling up to where I'm standing and asks some stupid question like which college i'm from or something like that, I dont remember. I tell him and then he asks some other stupid questions and asks my name and announces his. Since I'm surrounded by locals, to avoid any pissing off, I keep a straight face though I'm bursting with laughter inside! I tell him shaking his hand like he's the most important guy I've ever met. That gets over and we walk off to avoid further attention.

We go over to the rocks and plan a path to reach the lighthouse. We start climbing and I demonstrate my monkey skills by some good rock climbing. But it's not over! The drunk 'beer pitha hai' guy (dint know till then) starts following us, and he's got 2 bottles of beer and some food with him. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have objected, but due to the current situation i refuse politely. He then claims me to have asked him to bring it. I tell him that he misunderstood and kindly ask him to fuckoff. He tries to convince us to drink with him, we ignore him further and he finally starts drinking on the same rock as we are (same as that in the photograph , notice the expression on meera and sugandhi's faces! lol). To cut a very long story short , he drinks, throws bottles on the ground and later comes to us. I meet him and he starts babbling away in kannada! It looks like he's really trying to tell me something, so I tell him to speak in hindi (which he obviously knows!). He then goes on in a drunken drawl about how I'm wrong about him and that he just offered us the beer in nice way and that how his intentions are not bad etc. etc.! I convince him that i had no such idea in my mind and ask him again very kindly, to take a hike. He seems pretty contended about talking to me and walks off! Honestly, I think he was a nice guy and I'll make sure the next time i'm on Kaup to share a beer with him ....alone!
